Obituary of Many Bears

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, nephew, relative, and friend Julius Many Bears on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the age of 66 years. Words cannot express the deep sense of loss and pain we are all feeling from the void you left behind. Julius lived and shared his life to the fullest through his kindness, sense of humour, love, and, most of all, his deep faith in the Lord. Julius was born on July 3, 1939 at the Blackfoot Hospital and raised on Siksika Nation, AB most of his life. It was there that he received his education and also worked for Siksika Co-op Cattle Ranch for many years until his true calling came in spreading the Gospel which he did with great passion until his passing. Julius became a born-again Christian and was actively involved in the community as a pastor organizing Revival Fellowship Camp meetings, and enjoyed attending many of them with his wife and family. Julius was remembered as a respected Siksika elder in his community. Julius leaves behind his loving wife Patricia; his sons and their wives, Eugene (Darlene), Clark, Lynden (Shannon), Stewart (Adrianna) and Jonathon Many Bears, Rueben (Lorraine) Weasel Head, and Stewart Big Snake; and his precious grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Julius also leaves behind his sisters and brother-in-law, Clara Many Bears and Theresa (Jimmy) Knowlton; his brother and sister-in-law Aloysius (Frances) Many Bears; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He will also be lovingly remembered by his aunts, Cecile Many Guns, Cecillia Many Heads and Emma Many Feathers; his uncles, Philip and Albert Many Bears and James Calf; his adopted sisters, Ruth Scalplock, Annette Crane Bear, and Sandee Bellegarde; and adopted brothers, Brian Van De Wark, John Young, Isaac Dust, Al Highi, and the Honourable Premier Ralph Klein (Blue Bird), and his adopted children and all their families. Julius was predeceased by his parents James and Alice Many Bears; his sister Georgina Many Bears; his brothers, Carl and Francis Many Bears; his special daughters, Darlene Sitting Eagle, Darryl and Ramona Many Bears; and a grandchild Scotty Many Bears; his aunts Theresa Yellow Fly, Annette, Marie Many Bears, and Clara Sun Walk; and his uncles, Edmond Many Bears, Peter and John Calf.
