Obituary of Rosina Margaret Faulkner

Rosina (Rose) Margaret Faulkner of Calgary passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2005, at the age of 79 years surrounded by the family she loved so much. Rose was born in Mortlach, SK, the youngest of nine children of Susanna and James Greggains. She married Jim Faulkner of Gull Lake, SK in 1949 and led a full and adventurous life as a soldier’s wife and mother of five children: Penny, Debbie, Jane, Peter, and Michael, who died at birth. As a military family, they lived in Prince George; BC, Regina, SK; Whitehorse, YT; London, England and Calgary. After Jim’s retirement, she lived in Castlegar, BC, Victoria, BC; Moose Jaw, SK, and finally, Calgary. Rose, always a favourite with her Saskatchewan relatives and family, loved to speak her mind, laugh and listen to people when they needed to talk. Rose was also an avid collector of flamingos and thimbles and cheered for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. Her family will cherish her expressions of love, such as family dinners, handmade linens, and Christmas decorations. Rose is survived by her eldest daughter Penny and partner Ian Elliot, second eldest daughter Debbie, and her third daughter Jane, son-in-law Doug Dunwoody, all of Calgary; and her son Peter who lives in Airdrie. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lara and Heath Sampson and Jennifer and Erica Dunwoody; and great-grandchildren: Sam and Max Hughes and Parker and Ellie Sampson. Rose was predeceased by her husband Jim.
