Obituary of Gladys Bearspaw

With great sadness Gladys “Ena” Bearspaw (Rabbit), of Morley, was called home by our Creator on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at the age of 88 years. “Ena” was born on March 4, 1917 on the Stoney First Nation Reservation. She received her education at the Morley Community Residential School “Ena” valued and respected her Nakoda Contemporary Stoney Culture as well as her interest and enthusiasm in recreational sports, especially the Morley Tomahawk Hockey Team. “Ena” lived her life to the fullest. “Ena” will be sadly missed by her six daughters, Joyce (Richard), Winnie (Ernie), Brenda (Morley), Charlene (Clarence), Buffy (John), Lori (Lawrence); three sons, Lloyd and Marty and Gilbert (Florene); four adopted son, Donald (April) Heaven Fire, Derek (Donna) Daniels, Paul A. (Vernda), and Floyd Daniels; one dear and close grandson, Anthony (Francine); thirty-two grandchildren; ninety-three great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie (Helen) Rabbit; numerous cousins, Bella Twoyoungmen, Eva Baptiste, Elsie (Eddy) Holloway, Mary Baptiste, Reba Baptiste, and Mary Kootenay; nieces; nephews; community members, especially elders; as well as numerous relatives in Morley and Hobbema, AB. The family would like to apologize for those relatives that were missed. “Ena” was predeceased by her husband Roger Bearspaw in 1977; six daughters, Alvina, Gwen, Beverly, Evelina, Lilly and Evangeline; eight grandchildren, Alma, Cheryl, Andrew and Simone Bearspaw, Leina and Lambert Daniels, Deborah and Marvin Mark; and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Bearspaw. Wake Services will be held at the residence of the late Evelina Bearspaw (Morley, AB) on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Morley United Church (Morley, AB) on Friday, August 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery, Morley, AB. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the ICU Unit staff at the Foothills Medical Centre for their care of their mother during her stay.
