Obituary of Dennis Joseph Murphy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Dennis Joseph Murphy on Sunday, August 7, 2005. Surrounded by his family, Dennis passed away at the age of 59 years after a courageous struggle with cancer.
Dennis leaves Joan, his wife and best friend of thirty-eight years; his son Ben (Rajni); two daughters, Cory Stachiw (Greg), and Crissy Ashman (Rich); two special grandchildren, Robbie and Leneela; three sisters, Marilyn Murphy, Rita McGregor (Charlie), and Sheila Barton (Terry); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father Archie in 1971; his brother Lawrence in 1973; and his mother Corinne in 1994.
Dennis was born on January 7, 1946 in Calgary, being his home for the majority of his life. He was a proud member of the Calgary City Police Service from 1975 to 2000 where he enjoyed many varied and challenging roles. His family jokingly referred to him as Ace. Dennis will be remembered as a fun-loving, good-spirited person who loved motorcycles, barbequing and traveling, but mostly he enjoyed gatherings with his family and numerous relatives who will miss him greatly. “We’ll miss you, Pa.”
