Obituary of Christina Margaret Becker

Christina (Chris) Margaret Becker lost her short and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at the Rockyview General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Chris was born on August 22, 1921 in Regina, SK, where she grew up and attended school. She moved to Edmonton, AB in 1943 where she met the love of her life and married in 1947. Together they settled in High Prairie, and then lived in many towns in the Peace River area of northern Alberta where they started raising a family. Chris’ husband joined the Armed Forces which took them to Wainright, AB and to Germany for two years before settling in Calgary, AB in 1964. After losing her husband in 1985, she volunteered her time for many years to the Red Cross and Holy Cross Hospital. Chris was a charismatic, loving person with a fabulous sense of humour. She loved her many friends and was devoted to her family. Her passions were reading, knitting, baking and, most of all, “sports”. “WE LOVE YOU AND WILL ALWAYS MISS YOU’ Chris was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard Becker; and is survived by her three devoted daughters, Shirley Cole, Donna Gabert and Karen Grigg; five adoring grandchildren, Jason Cole, Jackson Cole, Melanie Gabert, Andrea Grigg, and Colin Grigg; and her sons-in-law, Robert Gabert and Jon Grigg. She is also survived and will be greatly missed by her brothers, Jack McClymont and Roy McClymont and his family.
