Obituary of Chris Vogt

Christian (Chris) John Vogt of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the age of 81 years. Chris was born on September 27, 1923 in Odessa, SK. He served overseas during WW II with the Regina Rifles. During the war he served in the rank as Corporal, in the liberation of Belgium. After the war he stayed on as acting Sargeant to help in Peace Keeping. When he returned to Canada, he studied carpentry, and moved to Calgary to work as a finishing carpenter and restorer. He kept in touch with his regiment and attended the annual reunions. Two of his loves were fishing, and woodworking and many of his friends have treasured mementos of his skill. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Chris is survived by a sister Barbara Glenn of Tisdale, SK; and a brother John Vogt of Duncan, B.C; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Frances Vogt in November 2004, and six other siblings Albert Vogt, Lucas Vogt, Joe Vogt, Agatha Wilson, Mary Doidge and Irene Ell.
