Obituary of Harold Worden

Harold Francis Worden, beloved husband of Hazel of High River, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 87 years. Harold was born on August 15, 1917 in Calgary. He attended school at Glenmore and Red Deer Lake. He was in the Market Gardening business for many years in the Midnapore and Okotoks area before he retired to High River in 1999. Harold worked for Jim Shaw and when WWII began, Harold joined the army and spent several years in Eastern Canada. After he left the army, Harold came back to the farm and carried on the family tradition of gardening and worked for Trotter and Morton through the winters. He was involved in curling at Red Deer Lake and the Big Four and was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #78 in Turner Valley for fifty-four years. Besides his loving wife, Harold is survived by his stepchildren, Raymond, Brian, Myrna, Lorna, Dale, Della, and their families; thirteen grandchildren; sisters-in-law Gwen of Millarville and Betty of Vernon, BC; nieces and nephews, Bill, Ed, Joan, Robert, Ruth, Sue, and their families; as well as his great-niece and great-nephews. Papa had a special bond with his great-grandchildren, Jaycie and William. Harold was predeceased by his brothers, Bob in October 2000 and Bill in May 2005. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Griffin, Presider.
