Obituary of Robert James Boyle Allen

Robert James Boyle Allen, beloved father of Gordon and Ronald of Field, BC and Nancy Johnson of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at the age of 83 years. Robert (Bob) was born on August 15, 1921 in Brandon, MB. He completed his Grade Twelve in Brandon, after which he started a machinist apprenticeship with Canadian Pacific Railroad. Bob finished his apprenticeship and became a Journeyman Machinist. He then began a forty-two year career with the Canadian Pacific Railroad which brought him west with his wife Phyllis and family, spending time in Calgary, Field, BC and Revelstoke, BC, returning to Calgary in 1977 where he retired in 1983. Bob was active in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and loved the teas and dinners. He also enjoyed being amongst family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Besides his children, Bob is survived by his daughters-in-law Vivian, wife of Gordon and their son David and Helene Gelineau, wife of Ronald and their son Christopher, all of Field, BC; and son-in-law Jim Johnson, husband of Nancy and their daughter Lindsie of Calgary. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis; sister Esther; brother Joseph; and his parents Sarah and Robert Allen. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Marion Barclay MacKay, Presider.
