Obituary of Idris Evans

Idris Lloyd Evans of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 three weeks short of his 97th birthday. One of three children, Idris was born in 1908 to Sarah and Will Evans in Lille Alberta, a small mining town in the Crowsnest Pass, now a ghost town. In his youth he was a member of the Blairmore Bearcats and other championship teams. The Blairmore Bearcats won the Provincial Senior Hockey Title in 1930. After a variety of careers in the Crowsnest Pass, Idris and his family moved to Calgary in the late 50’s where Idris finished his work life at the City of Calgary Waterworks department. Forever helpful to his family and friends, Idris will be remembered for his many hospital visits and chauffeuring activities. Idris is survived by his son Don (Judy), his grandchildren Corey (Shelly) and Stephen, and great-grandchildren Lilith and Jamieson. He was predeceased by Edna his wife of sixty-one years. A Celebration of Idris’s life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Don and Judy Evans (286-4184). Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
