Obituary of Frances Peace

Frances Lorraine Peace, beloved wife and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2005 in Calgary, at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her step-daughter Pat Ness, her granddaughter Kelly Ness (Chris Stockdale), her grandson Corey (Leanne) Ness, all of Edmonton; four great-grandchildren, Jamie, Quinn, Graeme, Cameron; and many cousins from the Cuncannon, Bailie, and Boyd families. Frances was predeceased by her husband, John (Charlie) Peace and her parents, Sam and Estelle Boyd. Frances was born November 26, 1917 in Calgary, attended school in Morrin, Sunbeam, and Irricana, Alberta. In her youth, Frances was an excellent athlete who played ball with the Morrin Fliers Ladies Softball team in the 1930s (later Provincial Champions) and developed a passion for golf. She was a longtime member of the Elks Golf Club in Calgary, President of the Alberta Ladies Golf Association, and an active supporter of junior golf. Frances worked for the Mannix Construction Company and the RCMP. For the last eight years, Frances was cared for by the compassionate staff of the Bow View Nursing Home and by her cousins Don (Doreen) Cuncannon and Marj (Bob) Conlin. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
