Obituary of Walter Kopeck

Walter Kopeck, beloved husband of Mary Kopeck of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Walter was born on June 15, 1914 in the Canora, SK, District. Walter married his wife Mary on October 25, 1936. Together they built a life in Moose Jaw, SK, where he was a Plant Superintendent for Johnstone Dairies for thirty one years. Upon retiring they moved to Calgary, AB in the 1970’s. Walter was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his loving wife Mary of sixty-nine years. He is also survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Elaine and Don Lischka of Calgary; Donna McVety of Devon, AB, son and daughter-in-law Bob and Joey Kopeck of Surrey, BC; six grandchildren, Lorelie and her husband Jeff Gordon, Sandy and her husband Jack Alley, Grant Lischka, and Darrell Lischka and his wife Angie, Scott McVety and Amanda McVety; six great grandchildren, Jayme, Joel and Trevor Gordon; Lauren Alley, Andrew Kowalchuk, Rebecca Lischka; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Olga and Bill Danyluik and Jennie and Harry Wihnan; brother Brownie and Bella Kopeck all of Canora, SK; sister-in-law, Annie Kopeck of Moose Jaw, SK; and Vicky Kopeck of Regina, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Matt and Irene; great-grandson, Jarrett Alley age thirteen; brothers, Mike, Peter, Steve Kopeck; as well as sisters, Frances Zorian, Annie Homenuik, Albina Diak, and Mary Homenuik. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in “St. Joseph’s section” at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
