Obituary of Herbert Oppl

Herbert Oppl, beloved husband of Helga Oppl and father of Stephen Oppl of Calgary, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2005 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 67 years. Herbert was born on November 29, 1937 into a loving family in Schweinfurt, Germany. He met the love of his life, Helga in 1959 and they married in August 1960. Having a sense of adventure they decided to go to Canada for a few years, traveling with friends by ship, arriving in Canada in 1964. Like so many people before them, they quickly found out that once you live in this beautiful country for a while there is no turning back. After the arrival of their son Stephen in July 1966, they realized this was definitely their new home. Herbert lived his life in a most dignified and classy way. He was one of the true gentleman. He was loved and respected by not only his family and friends, but also his neighbours, colleagues and anyone lucky enough to have known him. Besides his loving wife Helga, Herbert is survived by his son Stephen Oppl of Calgary. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters, many nieces, nephews, and extended family, all in Germany. Herbert was predeceased by his parents Betty and Max.
