Obituary of Denis Edward Fleming

Denis Fleming, beloved husband of Wendy Fleming of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the age of 50 years. Denis was born on November 7, 1954 in Calgary, growing up in the Stanley Park area. He graduated from Bishop Grandin High School in 1973, and married Wendy on July 20, 1985. Denis was employed with GMAC for over twenty-nine years. Denis was a devoted and proud father and husband, and a loving, caring and fun son, brother, uncle and cousin. He was always available to anyone in need, and had a gift of easily making friends when meeting new people. One of Denis’ greatest pleasures was watching his son Ryan play lacrosse and football. Active in the community, Denis coached football and was an avid Calgary Stampeders fan. He was also a Member of the Knights of Columbus for which he received a family award, and he played the perfect Santa Claus for Magic of Christmas. Besides his loving wife, Wendy, Denis’ memory will be cherished by his son Ryan; his mother Marguerite Fleming of Calgary; his three sisters and brothers-in-law, Shauna and Paul Shaw of Canmore, AB, Maureen and Gregg Elliot and Monica and Rob Marchuk, all of Calgary. He will also be remembered by his sisters-in-law, Marie (Rick) Welch; Linda (Bill) Pound and Dorothy (Christopher) Hebb; brother-in-law Verne Wettstein; mother-in-law Midge Wettstein; great-niece Brooklyn; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his father Frank Fleming and father-in-law Walter Wettstein. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Alfredo Pereira, Celebrant.
