Obituary of Ed Pleinis

Edward James Pleinis, beloved Uncle of Mark and Katherine Pleinis of Edmonton, passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on Thursday, July 7, 2005, after battling cancer at the age of 71 years. Ed was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on October 24, 1933. He grew up in a farming community and went on to pursue his diverse interests. He had many occupations, most notably: Fireman, Truck Driver, and Heavy Equipment Operator. He also served his country, enlisting in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1952. His military service took him to many locations overseas, in particular to Korea, where he earned the Korean Medal and the United Nations Medal. Ed was a man with many talents. He was very well known for his skill in everything from pie-making to woodworking to hunting to drawing. He enjoyed reading Westerns, especially those written by Louis L’Amour. And he favoured Charlie Russell’s paintings and drawings. His love of art lead him to develop his own artistic skills and he completed many beautiful drawings of wildlife. Besides his loving nephew, Ed is also survived by his brother and sisters and by his valued friends.
