Obituary of Alexander Shepherd Currie

Alexander (Alex) Shepherd Currie, beloved husband of Joy Currie of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at the age of 83 years. Alex was born on October 12, 1921 in England and immigrated to Canada with his family as a young child. They settled in Toronto where he grew up and lived for most of his life. Alex served with the Dental Corp in Europe during World War II, for four years. In 1986, Alex and Joy retired to Calgary. He loved to golf, curl and play snooker and spend time with his family. Besides his loving wife Joy, Alex will be remembered by his sons and daughter-in-law Alexander and Rosemary Currie and Perry Rosefield; and his four daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Doug Barton, Joanne and Tom O’Brian, Lisa and Alan Belyea and Michele and Jay Youngberg; and son-in-law Ron Edgar; as well as nine grandchildren, Wendy, Kevin, Sherrill, Sandy, Liam, Brendon, Jonathan, Joilinn, and Julia; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Amahria. He was predeceased by his first wife Audrey.
