Obituary of Ronald Borden Coleman

Ron Coleman of Calgary passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2005 after a courageous battle with illness at the age of 72 years. Ron was born in Nova Scotia and lived his early years there. After graduating from Dalhousie University with degrees in Commerce and Law, he moved to Calgary in 1957. Ron was a Senior Executive with Home Oil Company for twenty years and then began a Consulting career. He was a member of the Alberta Law Society, the Canadian Bar Association and was a founding Director of the Petroleum Law Association of Canada. He was also President of the Independent Petroleum Association of Canada from 1978 to 1979, a Director of many public corporations and served as Chairman of the Calgary Hospice Foundation for many years. He was a member of the Ranchmans, Petroleum and Glencoe Clubs, as well as the Earl Grey Golf Club. Ron’s favourite pastimes were playing golf and gin rummy with the “Rat Pack” and his many other friends. Ron is survived by his three sons, Gary, Paul and Cameron; granddaughter Jenna; mother Jesse; sister Kaye; his dear friend Coralee; as well as many nephews and nieces. Ron was predeceased by his father L.B. (Barry); and brothers, Jack, Gordon and Bill. A Private Family Service will be held in Nova Scotia.
