Obituary of Florence Dansereau
Sister Florence Dansereau F.C.J. (formerly Sister Philomena) of Calgary died peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2005, after a brief illness.
Florence, second-born child of Isidore Dansereau and Heloise Verrier, was born on May 29, 1933 in Beaumont, Alberta. She joined the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus on February 2, 1951 at Sacred Heart Convent in Calgary and made her final profession of vows on July 25, 1959 at Stella Maris Convent, Broadstairs, Kent, England. After studies at the University of Toronto, the University of Alberta, Sedgley Park Training College in Manchester, England and the University of Spokane, Florence taught high school classes in Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary, and has been a gracious, loving and much-loved presence on the staff of the F.C.J. Christian Life Centre where she served unselfishly for the past twenty-five years.
Florence is survived by her sisters, Louise St. Pierre and Marietta Duxbury; by a special cousin, Dr. Estelle Dansereau; and by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; as well as her F.C.J. Sisters.
Prayers will be held at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel (219 – 19 Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel (219 – 19 Avenue S.W.) on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev.
