Obituary of Teresa Sgarbossa

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Teresa Sgarbossa on June 30, 2005 at the age of 61 years. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her soul-mate Agostino in 1996, we take comfort in knowing that they are together again. Teresa is survived by her loving daughters and son-in-law, Silvana and Brian Maurer, Lisa and Nicole Sgarbossa; as well as her precious grandchildren, Megan, Jacob and Sydney. She leaves behind one sister and two brothers, Maria (Nicola) Arrotta, Peter (Evelyn) Mauro and Tom (Debra) Mauro; and four nephews, Mario (Debbie) Arrotta, Dean (Connie) Stella, Jason, and Justin Mauro. She also has many other great-nieces and nephews, relatives and extremely dear friends in Calgary, Edmonton and Italy. Teresa was born in Albi, Catanzaro on March 7th, 1944 and then immigrated to Canada on October 18, 1953. She met Agostino, her husband to be, at the age of sixteen and married in 1964. Teresa embodied those qualities that many strive for, but few achieve. She enriched the lives of those around her with her compassion, selfless nature, and her active involvement within the community and church. Teresa welcomed all into her home and cherished them and her family with an abundance of love and kindness. Everything she did, she did with grace. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev.
