Obituary of Christopher David Hodgson

Christopher David Hodgson of Calgary passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the age of 37 years. A dearly beloved brother, son, grandson, and friend, Christopher is survived by his sister Lindsey Hodgson (John Schuett) of Toronto, ON; his father Dave and his wife Ann Hodgson, and her family of Calgary; his mother Prue and her husband Harry Barabonoff of Okotoks, AB; his grandmothers, Leah Perrault of Olds, AB and Jackie Betts of Canmore, AB; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Born and raised in Calgary, Christopher graduated with Honours from Lord Beaverbrook High School in 1985. In high school he was very interested in music and managed a rock band (“Tropix”) consisting of high school buddies. He never forgot those happy times. Christopher was one of a few accepted in the Cinema Television Stage and Radio Program at SAIT in 1989 and graduated in 1991. He made many friends at SAIT and in the film industry through the ’90s. He was a very accomplished Film Editor and he won an AMPIA (Alberta Motion Picture Industry Award) in 1999 for his work on a “North of 60” production entitled “In the Blue Ground”. His work on this movie also earned him a Gemini nomination. A very loving and lovable boy, youth, and man, Christopher always had a hug for those he loved. He enjoyed camping, fishing, canoeing, and had a love of nature and “growing things”, a gift he inherited from his grandmothers. He liked nothing better than enjoying a turkey dinner, cooked by his Mom, at holiday times. He loved his sister, Lindsey, deeply and they shared a love of music, movies, books, art, The Simpsons and South Park. With his Dad he loved to play snooker and playing pool was a special time for them both. Christopher will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by all of us whose lives he touched.
