Obituary of Margarete Paasuke

Margarete Paasuke of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2005 at the age of 104 years. Grandma was born in Estonia. After attending the University of Tartu in Estonia, she worked for several years as a Translator with British companies located in Estonia. She immigrated to Canada in 1948 and lived in MontrÚal where she worked as a Secretary with the Department of Pathology at the McGill University until her retirement at the age of seventy-two. She then made annual trips to Alberta and many trips to Europe to visit friends and relatives whom she had not seen for decades. Grandma moved to Calgary in 2000 to be close to her family. Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Rein (Janice) and Toomas “Tom”; grandchildren, Linda (Colin) Derksen, Mark, and “Little” Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Jack and Jamie Derksen, all of Canada; as well as her niece Kreeta (Peeter) Laht; and nephew Ants (Elle) Kaun, all of Estonia. Grandma was predeceased by her husband Leonhard; sisters, Hilda and Olli; and brothers, Olav and Harald. Grandma will be laid to rest with her sister Hilda in MontrÚal.
