Obituary of James Devereaux Downey

James (Jim) Devereaux Downey, beloved husband of Evelyn (Lynn) Downey of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Jim was born on July 16, 1927 in Saskatoon, SK. He had a thirty-year career with Burns Foods Ltd., followed by a partnership in Clover Leaf Cheese Ltd. from 1978 to the present. Besides Lynn, his endlessly devoted wife of fifty-three years, Jim is also survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine and Jim Heisler of Kelowna, BC and Patti and Ken Gordon of Calgary; his son and daughter-in-law John and Carolyn Downey of Calgary; and eight grandchildren, Megan and Elizabeth Dart, Mark, Todd and Paige Gordon, and Jennifer, Luke and Duncan Downey. He will also be remembered by his brothers Bob Downey and Ferg (Donna) Downey and other special family members, including May and Fred Jessee, Ian and Stella Duncan, Jim and Sharon Duncan, Robert and Elsie Duncan; and his aunt Pat Hobson. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev.
