Obituary of Marjorie Helen McClintock
Marjorie McClintock passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at the age of 81 years.
Marjorie was born in Edmonton on February 4, 1924 to Ben and Nellie Prest.
She worked as a Telegrapher for the Canadian National Railway and Imperial Oil until she married George in 1953. George’s work with Imperial Oil saw the family relocate several times, before they finally settled in Calgary in 1971. Marjorie indulged her interest in people and community service in many ways over the years. She was actively involved with various church parishes and was a Board Member with the John Howard Society, Community Representative on the National Parole Board, Volunteer Coordinator, Trustee and Senator with the Calgary Zoo; and Board Member of the Elder Statesmen Group. Marjorie had a unique gift of inspiring and influencing many lives she touched. She was devoted to her family and friends, and in later years, traveled with them on trips across Canada, Africa, and the U.S., especially the Oregon coast, which provided her family’s fondest memories.
Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cody (Joanne), Carl (Heide), Kathleen Graves (Roy), and Kevin (Joanne); grandchildren, Elizabeth (Scott), Catherine, Andrew, Angela, Emily, Brian, Evan, Ben, and Sean; and her twin brother Gordon (Madge) Prest. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1986.
A Service of Remembrance and a Celebration of Marjorie’s Life will be held at St. Laurence Anglican Church (5940 Lakeview Drive SW), on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. A Private Interment will precede the service. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calgary Zoological Society, 1300 Zoo Road NE, T2E 7V6. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Barb Atnikov, Sue Pearce, Sharon Lennox, and the Extended Palliative Care Team who looked after our mother with such compassion.
