Obituary of Isaac Bradley Crowchild

Mr. Isaac Bradley Crowchild, of the Tsuu T’ina Nation, beloved husband of Sandie Melanson, loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre on Friday, June 10, 2005 at the age of 55 years. Bradley will be dearly missed by his wife of ten years Sandie, his children, Bernadine, Martin (Leslie) , Tricia (Michael), Joe, Lucianne (Bernie), Derek, Mark (Trudy), Irene, Leon (Kyla), Aaron, Alex, Michelle and Nadine and all his grandchildren. Besides his nieces, nephews and other close family members, he leaves behind his mother Edith, brothers and sister, Alex (Helen) Charlie, Neil (Patricia), Patrick (Aldina), Elliott (Priscilla) and Frances (Helmut). Sisters-in-law Sherry and Josephine Crowchild, special friends, Sykes (Juanita), Fred Powderface, Jesse Starlight and Billy Jacobs. Bradley, also known as Mr. King, Kiitokii and Wise Beaver Man, walked with determination and purpose. He had a strong belief in his Native Traditional ways, his spiritual belief was unbreakable. Bradley’s spirituality and his sobriety were his most valued gifts. On April 18th Bradley celebrated 29 years of sobriety. To Bradley this was a treasured gift and often teased that everyone else had to ‘struggle’ with their sobriety, but his was a gift. Brad loved being a carpenter and was proud knowing that he always did his best. He really appreciated his time with his friend Jesse Starlight because he always felt that Jesse also took great pride in his work. His social time was comprised of golf and pool; his first love was golf. Brad had many golf buddies but he never missed an opportunity to golf with his friends Harvey, Sykes, Fred, Jesse, and his brothers, Alex and Charlie. When their phones would ring they knew who was calling and why. His favourite golf course was Redwood Meadows, every year he looked forward to the Classic and played as often as possible leading up to it. Brad communicated through his sports and didn’t always express his feelings well, however, within Bradley’s heart he treasured each and every child and grandchild. Bradley expressed himself through his prayers and beautiful poetry. He also loved driving fast and listening to Rod Stewart and Bob Seger. He will be forever missed and loved by all who knew him. Bradley, have a safe journey home. Bradley was predeceased by his father Isaac Crowchild; brothers Emerson and Allan; sisters, Rita, Irene, Jacqueline, Peggy and his grandchildren; Lee-Anne, Kurdistan and other family members too numerous to mention. The family wishes to thank Henry Suvee, Cori Powderface, Doctors; Michaud, Pereira and Fell as well as all the nurses and staff of Unit 47 who all took such special care of him. The family wishes to acknowledge all the relatives and friends that we have not mentioned.
