Obituary of David Alan Cotterell

David Cotterell, beloved husband of Liliana of Calgary, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 6, 2005, after a long struggle with brain cancer at the age of 36. Dave was born on January 6, 1969 in Calgary. He was a wonderful husband, father, and son who treasured his family and friends. He loved spending time at the family cabin in the Shuswap and teaching his daughter about nature. He graduated from the Aviation Program at Mount Royal College in 1990. He was a man of many talents and enjoyed woodworking. He was passionate about flying and served ten years as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Dave loved the outdoors, running and being challenged by technology. He was very strong and determined in his fight with cancer and inspired many people with his strength and compassion to live each day to the fullest. Sunwest Aviation, his recent employer, was very supportive to him and his family. Dave would want to thank his family, friends and the medical staff who supported him during his battle with cancer. Besides his loving wife Liliana, he is survived by his daughter Katelyn; his mother Jean Rutter; father Brian; and his brothers, Paul Cotterell and Scott Rutter. He will also be remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousin, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepfather Michael Rutter. Funeral Services will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive S.E.) on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Tumback, Presider.
