Obituary of Rex Ivor Thompson

It is with deep respect and sorrow that we announce the passing of Rex Ivor Thompson of Calgary on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the age of 85 years. Rex was a quiet, kind, compassionate, and unassuming man. He was proud to say that he served twenty-seven years in the Royal Canadian Corps. of Signals. Captain Thompson greatly enjoyed his many arctic winter experiences and had a great love of its land and people. He was very proud to say “I am a native Calgarian.” After retiring from the services, Rex established his own business, Thompson Electronic Door Controls. He was the beloved husband of Doris. Rex is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Peggy; and his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Jerome Liboiron. He is also survived by his five loving grandchildren, Bruce and Sara Thompson and Nichole, Curtis and Melissa Liboiron; his sister-in-law Betty Albinson and husband Fred of Vancouver, BC; and sister-in-law Hazel Davidson of Calgary. Rex was predeceased by his twin sister Margaret Hammell and his grandson Joel Liboiron. In accordance with Rex’s wishes, a Private Memorial was held and cremation has taken place. The family would like to acknowledge the many years of kind and compassionate care given to Rex by Dr. Catherine Heimbach and Community Health Nurse, Sharon Holbrook.
