Obituary of Ian Hertford Livinston Sloan
Ian Hertford Livingston Sloan, beloved husband of Charlotte Sloan of Calgary, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2005 at the age of 90 years.
Ian was born on July 27, 1914 in Drumheller, AB. He met May Groundwater and they were married June 6, 1943. They later moved to Saskatchewan for eight years and then moved to Calgary where they lived in Parkdale for thirty-five years. May predeceased him in 1985. He married Charlotte in 1986. Ian was employed with John Tynan Furniture for many years until his retirement. Ian was a lifetime member of the Calgary Elks, a charter member of the Calgary Winter Club, a long time member of the Turner Valley Golf Club, as well as a member of the Nifty Fifties. During his retirement Ian enjoyed being a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society, where he made many friends.
Besides his wife Charlotte, Ian is survived by one son Doug and Audrey Sloan of Grande Prairie, AB; and one daughter Maureen and Dave Grierson of Calgary; as well as four grandchildren, Cameron Grierson, Shelley (Jan) Rozek, Cassandra Sloan, and Jeffrey Sloan; and one great-grandchild Emily Rozek.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jan Craig of the Parkdale United Church, Presider.. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
