Obituary of Catherine Rui
Peacefully, Lois passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2005 after valiantly fighting cancer and diabetes for twenty-two years. Several strokes followed by a number of medical complications but Lois never complained about her fate and she seldom talked about her problems.
Lois was born in Ottawa, ON on December 23, 1926. She was a graduate of Lisgar Collegiate. After her Secretarial training, she spent five years as a Secretary to the New Zealand Trade Commissioner in MontrÚal, QC. She was then with Canadian Chemical and Cellulose in MontrÚal as Senior Secretary. Two years later she became the Secretary to the President of a large advertising agency in Toronto, ON. In 1957, Lois accepted the position of Manager for the Calgary operation of Avon Products. Lois married Glenn in Banff, AB on July 18, 1959. A year later they moved to the San Francisco, CA area. After ten wonderful years in California they returned to Calgary. Lois soon began a career in the real estate business which lasted over twenty years. She was with Cowley and Keith for seven years and seven years with Remax. Lois was a perfectionist and added a great deal of professionalism to the real estate industry. In her first three years she was awarded the Million Dollar Club designation twice when most homes were selling well below $100,000. Lois is now in a beautiful place with God starting a new journey which she richly deserves. She will be loved and fondly remembered by the many folks who were fortunate enough to know such a wonderful lady.
Lois will be terribly missed by her inseparable best-friend and husband Glenn of forty-six years. She will be sadly missed by her son Jeffrey Taylor Rui of San Francisco and her darling angel nine year old granddaughter Ariel Angel in Maui as well as her mother Dana. Her nephew Tim Dickson of Cobourg, ON mourns her loss along with Viola and their children Alex and Hilary. Also, nephew David Dickson’s family in Toronto including Taylor and Rachel are saddened by her loss. Robert Taylor, Cousin and Mary in Ottawa have deep sympathy. Cousin Bette Patterson in Alexandria, ON has fond memories of their early childhood in Ottawa and will sadly miss Lois. Larry Dickson, Lois’ brother-in-law grieves her loss. Lois was predeceased by her parents, Harold Hambleton and Lillian Taylor; and her sister Beverly Jean Dickson.
