Obituary of Kathleen Mary Flynn

Kathleen Mary Flynn (nee O’Neill) of Calgary passed away at the Father Lacombe Care Centre on Sunday, May 22, 2005 at the age of 97 years. Kathleen was born on May 7, 1908 to Catherine and Dan O’Neill. The family lived in Cardiff, South Wales. When she was sixteen she met Teddy Flynn and, after a sixteen year courtship, they were married in 1940. After Teddy passed away in 1964, Kathleen moved with her daughter Katharine’s family to England. In 1978, they immigrated to Mississauga, ON and relocated to Calgary in 1981. Kathleen soon came to think of Calgary as home and the best place in the world. She loved visiting her sister in BC, and taking care of her grandchildren while her daughter worked. Kathleen was always a very devout Catholic, with a big heart and anonymously helped out many people in need. Kathleen’s memory will be cherished by her daughter and son-in-law Katharine and Larry Jones; grandchildren, Alex (Joanne), Gareth (Gloria) and Camille (Jason Thorpe); and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Rebecca, Connor and Patrick. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Peggy and John Edwards of Vancouver, BC; and her brothers Kevin and Danny (Margaret) of the UK. She was predeceased by her husband Teddy; sister Pat; brothers, Jack, Terry and Frank; and parents Kate and Dan.
