Obituary of Jordan James McKinley-Walsh

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of 4 ¢ year old Jordan James McKinley-Walsh (Jordi, Jord) at the Alberta Children’s Hospital on Friday, May 20, 2005, days after the sudden loss of his hero and his biggest fan, his dad, Steve Walsh. Jordan was a beautiful and wonderful gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jordi loved trains and “Thomas the Tank Engine”, marshmallows and “Rescue Heroes”, riding his “Big Wheels” through Fish Creek Park, playing soccer, and wrestling with his Dad. Jordi said that he wanted to be a Hockey Player and a Train Engineer when he grew up and had no difficulty correcting his mom on what kind of train they were looking at or reading about. Jordi treasured “boys’ night” with Dad and indulging in chocolate fondue during “movie night” while curled up with mom. Jordi gave us the best hugs and kisses and so much love. Jordi’s delightful smile and charming disposition captured the hearts of those surrounding him. His playful character and his social personality made him the centre of attention (right where he wanted) and a magnificent friend. Jordan was a playmate, a helper, a cuddler, an entertainer, a self-proclaimed comedian like his Dad, and a free-spirited independent little boy with his own voice. Baby boy, you will always be Daddy’s “Jordito” and Mommy’s “Goose”. In the words of Jordi, “My heart’s in your heart, right mom”. “Yes baby, and there it will stay because I will always be your Mama who loves you ten-hundred-thousand-and-one-and-one-and-one”. Jordan lives forever in the memory of his mother, Angela McKinley (Mama); Grandma and Grandpa, Ed and Maureen Walsh; Papa and Gran, Bill Jackson and Sandra Longland; Nana, Dianne McKinley; Great-Grandparents, Gene and Doreen Mason; Uncle Shawn (Uncle Shawnito); Uncle Darryl; Auntie Gail, Uncle Jim and cousins Chris and Miles; his special playgroup friends, and countless more friends and family. Funeral Services will be held at Central United Church (131 – 7th Avenue S.W.) on Monday, May 30, 2005 at 1:00 pm. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. To commemorate Steve and Jordan, a bench will be placed near the rails at Heritage Park where family and friends can watch the steam engine go by. Much appreciation goes to those who cared for our Jordi at the accident and at the Children’s Hospital. In living memory of Jordan McKinley-Walsh, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403) 243-8200.
