Obituary of William Neil Macdonald

William (Bill) Neil Macdonald, beloved husband of Lynne of Calgary, passed away suddenly at his home on May 19, 2005 at the age of 82 years. Bill (Potsie) was born in Cranbrook, BC on October 14, 1922. He was a Pilot in the RCAF from 1940 to 1945. Bill served with the Air Commonwealth Training Plan and then transferred back to the Royal Canadian Airforce to go overseas in 1943. He worked in Real Estate with P. J. Toole & Cote for many years and retired in 1990. Bill had a passion for reading, woodturning, photography, following world news and being the one to teach each of his grandchildren how to drive. He most loved family holidays and gatherings filled with games and cards. Bill was especially known for his story-telling and never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Besides his loving wife Lynne, Bill is also survived by his children, Duncan (June) Macdonald of Dartmouth, NS, Bruce (Carol) Macdonald, Heather (Cameron) MacDonald of Calgary and his sister Shirley Cooper of Penticton, BC. His greatest joy were his eight grandchildren; Cory (Peter), Lisa (Robert), Stuart (Angela), Rob (fiancÚ – Kelly Lennox), Fraser, Kate, Colleen, and Michael and three great-grandchildren, Mairin, Jack and Lachlan. Bill was known as “Potsie” to all of his family and many of their friends. Bill was predeceased by his brothers Allan and Gordon. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, May 27, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
