Obituary of Rose Lucille Wiedman

Rose Lucille Wiedeman (nee Oriold) of Medicine Hat, AB passed away suddenly on Friday, May 20, 2005 at the age of 81 years. Rose was born on July 11, 1923 in Empress, AB. She was the second daughter in a family of seven children. Rose spent her childhood in Empress and her family farmed in the area for many years. After finishing High School she left Alberta to pursue a nursing career in Victoria, BC. She attended St. Joseph’s Hospital and completed her nurse’s training there in 1946. Rose loved nursing and spoke of those years with great fondness her entire life. She attended reunions with her nursing colleagues on many occasions and enjoyed reminiscing with her old friends. Through the years Rose contributed her time and energy to many causes, among them are; The Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Henderson Directory, The Lady Trainmen and Elections Canada. She loved to play cards, bingo and complete crosswords. Rose married Richard (Dick) Wiedeman and they were together for fifty-four years. They raised three children and lived in the same house in Medicine Hat for all those years. After Dick passed away in October of 2001, Rose relocated to Calgary to be closer to her family. Rose was a wonderful Mother and always put her family first. She loved to socialize and nothing pleased her more than an evening of cards with family. She had a wonderful sense of humour and will be sadly missed by all her friends and family. Rose is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Joanne Wiedeman of Vancouver, BC and Lois and Bryan Kokoski; and her granddaughter Kate Kokoski, all of Calgary; as well as many nieces and nephews.
