Obituary of Alvin Arthur Bishop

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin (Al) Arthur Bishop, beloved husband of fifty-six years, of Fanny Rose, on Monday, May 16, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Al was born on February 19, 1928 in Edmonton, AB. He moved to Turner Valley as an infant, where he and his brothers grew up surrounded by the oil industry. Al was hired right out of high school, along with several friends, by Home Oil (Imperial Oil) to wildcat for oil to help with the cause for WW II. His work experience in the oil industry began in Edmonton, then Calgary, and finished in the Middle East, which provided marvellous travel opportunities around the world for him and Fanny. His favourite past times were, his family, camping, being a ?River Rat? in Alberta, golfing, curling and enjoying and caring for his beautiful yard. He will be remembered for his spirit, humour and his kindness. Besides his loving wife, Al is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ron, of Edmonton, and Wayne and Michelle, of Calgary; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Andy Johnston; two grandchildren, Scott and Larissa; three brothers, Paul and Bob, both of Calgary, and Peter, of Kelowna; as well as a sister-in-law Judy (Max) Bortnik of Wetaskiwin.
