Obituary of Francis John
Francis (Frank) John Fleming, Q.C., beloved husband of Marguerite Fleming of Calgary, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the age of 84 years.
Frank was born in Michel, BC and was raised in Blairmore, AB. He attended Notre Dame College in Wilcox, SK and graduated from Dalhousie Law School. Frank was the City Solicitor in Calgary and then joined the Law Firm of Sam Helman which eventually became Fleming Kambeitz. Frank’s law career spanned over fifty years and he would be seen at the office up until the day he was admitted to the hospital. Through his involvement in the sport of figure skating, he was instrumental in starting the International Figure Skating Competition known as Skate Canada.
Besides his loving wife of fifty-one years, Frank will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his son and daughter-in-law Denis and Wendy Fleming of Calgary; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shauna and Paul Shaw, of Canmore, AB, Maureen and Gregg Elliot, and Monica and Rob Marchuk, all of Calgary; ten grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Kathleen, Carolyn, Heather, Liam, Sean, Colleen, Aubrey, and Kaya; and great-granddaughter Brooklyn. He is also survived by his brother the Rev. Denis Fleming, of Calgary; his sister and brother-in-law Carlotta and Ed Blue, of Calgary; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be Concelebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W.) on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Denis Fleming, Principal Celebrant.
