Obituary of Alan Edwards
Alan Edwards, beloved husband of Mary Edwards of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the age of 78 years.
Alan was born and raised in Calgary. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. After the war Alan joined Calgary Transit, driving streetcars and buses. He then joined the Calgary Fire Department in 1953 until retiring as Captain in 1986.
Besides his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Alan will be forever loved and remembered by his son, Wayne Edwards of Toronto, and by his daughters and sons-in-law: Alana and Don Gelhorn of Hudson Bay, SK, Elaine and Barrie Hunt of Port Coquitlam, BC, and Lyndsey and Mike Evans of Calgary; and by “Grumpy’s” beloved grandchildren: Lane and Amy Gelhorn, Jon Gelhorn, Lauren Hunt, Brennin Evans, Tegan Evans and Marieve, Chloe and Elise Edwards. Alan will be missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Lazelle of Calgary, Winifred and Bill Marlow of Nova Scotia, Audrey and Doug Brewer of Seattle and Connie and Bill Craig of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alan was predeceased by his parents Ted and Winifred Edwards; and his sister Marion Driol.
A Celebration of Alan’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
