Obituary of Giovanni M. Sartore

Giovanni Sartore beloved husband of Gelsomina of Calgary, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2005 at the age of 85 years surrounded by his loving family. Giovanni was born on April 23, 1920 in San Martino, Di Lupari, Padova, Italy. He married Gelsomina on September 25, 1948. On May 25, 1959 he came to Calgary and worked for Canadian Pacific Railway until his retirement in 1985. Giovanni had many pastimes but especially enjoyed hunting with his family and attending to his garden. Giovanni had a special bond with his family and loved to be with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his loving wife Gelsomina, Giovanni is survived by his son Joe and daughter-in-law Susan; daughter Udila and son-in-law Mike Mastrofrancesco; grandchildren Evonna (Jason) Bercier, Michael (Stacey) Sartore and Christopher Sartore; Carla Mastrofrancesco (fiancÚ Frank Hobbs); great-grandchildren Austin and Ellesia Bercier , Michael and Danielle Mastrofrancesco-Hobbs all of Calgary. Giovanni is also survived by four sisters, Regina, Giselda, Livia and Pierina; and one brother Celestino all of Italy. He is predeceased by his parents Adele and Pietro and five brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Friday, May 13, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev.
