Obituary of Edward Maurice Smith

Edward Maurice Smith of Calgary passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005 at the age of 67 years. Edward was born on March 17, 1938 in Hylo, AB. He served three years with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Penhold, AB before working for Canada Post for thirty-four years. Edward was married on August 31, 1957 to June. He enjoyed camping in his R.V. Edward was known to be a handyman of all sorts, a patient, humorous and generous person. He had a great love for his family and was proud of all of their accomplishments. Besides his loving wife June, Edward is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jack and June Smith of Airdrie, AB; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jill Vanance and Jane and Scott Lake, all of Calgary; four grandchildren, Ashley and Tiffany of Airdrie, Christopher Vanance of Naniamo, BC, and Amber Lake of Calgary. He is also survived by three sisters and a brother, Ethel Flemming (Lorne) of Whitepress, AB, Bill Smith (Henriette) of Lac La Biche, AB, Joan Stuhl (Jim) of Red Deer, AB, and Gloria LaBonte (Bernie) of Lac La Biche, AB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his mother Marie and father Maurice. A Gathering for family and friends will be held in the “Little Chapel” at Grace Baptist Church (2670 Radcliffe Drive S.E.) on Saturday, May 14, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the Pastor Wayne Woodward of Grace Baptist Church, Presider.
