Obituary of Rudolph Edward Gieni

Rudolph (Rudy) Edward Gieni of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at the age of 88 years. Rudolph was born at home near Dahinda, SK. He was the oldest son in his family of eleven. After obtaining his Grade Eight with Honours, he went to Balfour Tech in Regina, SK to become an Electrician. Rudy went East to work and then back to his home area where he started farming in 1940. He married Mary Fluter on June 8, 1943 and together they raised ten children. Rudy was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the community of Glasnevin. Rudy retired from farming in 1967 and moved to Regina where he spent twenty-eight years living and working. He spent his last years with family on Vancouver Island and then Okotoks. He maintained his lifelong passions of spirituality, gardening, reading, and music. He was happiest when with his family, watching them grow. Rudy has left to mourn five, Peter (Gillian), Brian (Rita), Ross (Susan), Michael (Marla), and Lenard (Karen); four daughters, Patricia (Gary), Leona (Albert), Brenda (Tim), and Noreen (William); a daughter-in-law Joyce (Ken); twenty-six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six brothers, Lewis (Jean), Jack (Lena), Edward, George (Kaye), David (Cheryl), and Peter (Florence). He was predeceased by his wife Mary; his son Ron; grandson Dylan; mother and father; and his four sisters, Minnie, Madeline, Amelia, and Anne. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S “Park Memorial Chapel”, (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church (100 Argyle Street, Regina, SK) on Friday, May 13, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev.
