Obituary of Cornelius John Gallivan

Jack Gallivan, beloved husband of Doreen Gallivan of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Jack was born on August 9, 1927, was raised in the Mission District of Calgary and attended St. Mary’s Boys School in Calgary, and St. Anthony’s College in Edmonton, AB. He then went to work at Royalite Oil Company and that led to a career in the Oil and Gas industry that spanned thirty-six years. Jack retired from Westburne Petroleum and Minerals in 1986, and he had a wonderful retirement that involved summers of golfing and visiting family and friends, winters of travelling to Mexico and fully enjoying his life. Jack will be remembered with a smile on our faces and joy in our hearts. Jack will be sadly missed by his loving wife Doreen; his five children and their spouses, Chris and Kent Tracy, Terry Goulet, Don and Diana Gallivan, Paul and Susan Gallivan, and Connie and Dan Douglas; fourteen grandchildren, Russell, Richard, and Ryan Tracy, Kevin, Michelle, and Curtis Goulet, Kirsten and Mitchell Gallivan, Taylor and Hayley Gallivan, Daniel, Jackelyn, Lindsay and Kelley Douglas; and Doreen’s son and daughter-in-law Dan and Trudy Slattery, and Doreen’s grandchildren, Katie, Patrick, Danielle and Mike; a sister Betty Sherven of Sacramento, CA; his mother-in-law Emma Maloney (Gulbrandsen); brother-in-law Melvin and Sue Gulbrandsen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Jack was predeceased by his first wife Marie (Gulbrandsen) in March 1993; and an infant son Michael John in 1958. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W.) on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev.
