Obituary of Sarah Farries

Sarah “Jean” Farries of Calgary passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the age of 99 years. Jean was born on May 27, 1906 in Yakima, WA and came to Canada at an early age. She grew up in the Delburne, AB area and began her working career as a School Teacher. Four years later, she began to work as a Secretary in Toronto for an insurance company and remained there for the next forty years. Following her retirement, Jean returned to Alberta where she enjoyed travelling, teaching her family how to play bridge as well as doing needlepoint. She was a loving and wonderful aunt who took great pride in all her nieces’ and nephews’ accomplishments. Jean is survived by her two sisters Marie Smith of Red Deer, AB and Beatrice Bietz of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
