Obituary of Sydney Falck
Sydney (Syd) Falck passed away peacefully at the Beverley Centre on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the age of 95 years.
Syd was born on September 5, 1909 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England, the last surviving of five brothers and four sisters. Syd immigrated to Canada in 1929 and joined the Royal Bank in May of that same year. Syd served in several branches over the years and was Manager at Consort, Didsbury, High River, and retiring from the Calgary Lynwood Branch in 1969. Syd met Betty MacMillan while both working in the Pincher Creek Royal Bank and were married on April 12, 1941.
Syd will be remembered for his witty sense of humour and his loving devotion to his wife Betty, children, grandchildren, and family. Syd and Betty made wonderful friends and enjoyed many activities together including golf, bridge, travel, gardening, curling and family.
Syd is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Valerie and Garth Elsdon of Anchorage, AK; and grandchildren, Liam and Rory Elsdon, and Lizzy and Joseph Falck; sister-in-law Patricia and husband John Hnatuik; nephew Derek and Gil Falck; grandnephew John and Kathi Falck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Syd was predeceased by his beloved wife Betty, of sixty-four years; and his son Dennis Charles in 2004.
