Obituary of Margaret Pipella

Margaret Pipella, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the age of 83 years. Margaret was born in 1921 in St. Walburg SK. Early in her working years Margaret studied and practiced nursing in Saskatchewan. She married George Pipella and they established their home in south west Calgary. Throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s, Margaret and George were involved with various family operated businesses in the Marda Loop area of south west Calgary. Margaret also worked for many years in retail sales at various Calgary department stores. Following her retirement Margaret was an active volunteer at the Canadian Red Cross Society and at the Seniors’ club at the Bowcliffe Community Centre. For the past three years Margaret was a resident at the Cedars Villa Extendicare in Calgary where she also developed a close friendship with Kathy Clark and many other residents. Margaret is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Molly and John Baron of High River and Georgina and Ron Skebo of Calgary; along with her grandchildren, Matthew Baron, Stephen, Samantha and Veronica Skebo. She is also survived by her sister Molly Johnson of Regina, SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1976 and by her brother Joseph Oster of Prince Albert SK in 1980. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday May 2, 2005 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James’ Catholic Church (5504 – 20th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
