Obituary of Irma Edith May Condon

Irma Condon (nee Ioanidis) passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the age of 84 years. Irma was born on April 22, 1921 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba where she grew up and worked in her family’s business, The Olympia CafÚ. Irma married Ernest and moved to Calgary in 1945 where she supported their restaurant (Jimmie’s) and raised their four children. Irma’s passions were raising her family while helping and serving others which lead to a large group of friends and acquaintances who will feel her absence. She enjoyed baking, gardening, outings around Calgary, going to bingo and catching up on the ‘news’ from her beloved Portage. A favourite pass time first with radio and then with television was sitting with her family enjoying mystery series and classic movies. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Ernest Condon; her children Maria (son-in-law Dennis Crete) of Montreal, Sothia, Jim ( daughter-in-law Pat) and George; grandchildren Robyn, Trisha and Brady; as well as her sister Evelyn and brother Connie. She was predeceased by her brother George. At the request of Irma a small private funeral was held on April 26, 2005. Internment will be in Portage la Prairie.
