Obituary of de Nance

William (Bill) Alexander de Nance, beloved husband of Bev de Nance of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Bill was born in Toronto, ON and became an accomplished figure skater, where he met his future wife at the Toronto Skating Club. They became Canadian Figure Skating Dance Champions in 1954 and 1955. With a lifelong interest in figure skating, Bill became a World Level Figure Skating Judge. He had a forty year career as a lawyer ending with six years as the Public Trustee of Alberta. Bill was also a published author and an avid gardener. Besides his loving wife of fifty years, Bev, Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Joy de Nance and his daughter Sara de Nance all of Calgary. “Grump” will be fondly remembered by his two grandchildren, Jay and Danielle. He is also survived by his nephew Greg (Holly) McHugh of Toronto. Bill was predeceased by his sister Evelyn McHugh.
