Obituary of Elsie Raby

Elsie M. Raby of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the age of 90 years. Elsie was born on March 29, 1915 in Durham, England. She immigrated to Canada at the age of nine, settling in Calgary at the age of twelve. Elsie and Raymond owned and operated the Isis Camera Store for almost fifty years. Elsie was a member of the Earl Grey Golf Club and curled out of the Calgary Curling Club. She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Eleanor Raby, Linda and Michael Clark, Joanne Thomson and Tracey Brandley; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Flo and Blackie Thurn, and Edie and John Befus; and a sister-in-law Doris Dawson. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Raymond and son-in-law, Allan Thomson. A Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, April 25, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
