Obituary of Jessie McLeod
Jessie Marie McLeod (nee Root), beloved wife of the late Russell McLeod of Airdrie, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2005 at the age of 84 years.
Jessie was born on September 20, 1920 in Travers, AB, the second youngest of fourteen children. She married Russell on September 14, 1939 and together they farmed and raised their family in the Travers area before retiring to Claresholm and later moving to the Airdrie district in 1989. Jessie loved sewing, crafts and gardening as well as cooking and baking. She also enjoyed bowling and at the age of sixty-nine she won a Bronze Medal in the Alberta Seniors Games. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and took great pride in all her family.
Jessie is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, a daughter and a son-in-law; Allen and Sharon of Claresholm, Clint and Sherry, Mick and Cindy, Marilyn and Brady Fleming, all of Airdrie; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Emily Root of Blairmore, AB; and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Russell on May 8, 2003 and by her daughter Sandra Lynn in 1946.
Funeral Services will be held at the Town and Country Centre, (275 Jensen Avenue, Airdrie) on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Airdrie Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
