Obituary of Mary Kathleen Daye

Mary Kathleen Daye of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the age of 68 years. Mary lived an extraordinary life. Born in London, England her childhood experiences of World War II shaped a woman who could surpass any obstacle and find humour in all circumstances. Mary’s extensive professional career started with Nursing for the Red Cross and diplomatic work at the Canadian High Commission in London, as well as an accomplished thirty-year span as an executive secretary in the aviation, mortgage and most recently telecommunications sectors. Though she was committed to work Mary was far more focused on her family. She maintained contact with extended family on five continents and was tireless in her dedication to her sons and their families. Mary is survived by her family: four sons and three daughters-in-law, Keith and Megan, Andrew and Stephanie, all of Calgary, Bruce and Joy of Bangkok, Thailand, and Tony of Halifax, NS; two grandchildren, Aiden and Drea; and her dog Hermes. Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (7 Sunmills Green S.E.) on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Carmen Stansberry and Rev. Cyril A. Haynes, Presiders.
