Obituary of Susan Hay

Susan “Ione” Hay (nee Munro) of Calgary passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005 at the age of 99 years. Ione was born in Red Deer, AB on January 13, 1906. She went to Carbon, AB to teach at Gamble School in 1925 and married local farmer Stewart Hay in 1929. They farmed in that area for many years and were very involved in community activities. In 1968, they retired and moved to Calgary, where they continued a busy lifestyle with travelling and participation in Southwood Seniors Club, Kingsland Bridge and Bingo. Ione was an avid reader, crib player and enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint. Ione leaves to mourn two daughters, Marilyn Kerchinsky of Red Deer and Shirley Anholt (Ray) of Calgary; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister Beth Oleson of Didsbury, AB. Ione was predeceased by her husband Stewart in 1996 and grandson Michael in 1988. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Monday, April 11, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
