Obituary of William Joseph Dorney

William (Bill) Dorney, beloved husband of Patricia Dorney of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the age of 68 years. Bill was born in Manhattan, NY and raised in the Bronx. He proudly served in the United States Navy, loved to travel and lived in many parts of the United States, New Zealand and Canada. Bill was a devoted family man who took great pride in the accomplishments of all. He also took much pleasure in sharing celebrations with family and friends, never hesitating to help anyone. Bill especially enjoyed his many years working with Calgary Handi-Bus. He was a strong supporter of community sports and enjoyed many years coaching and supporting baseball and soccer with his two sons. He was an avid sports fan and loved to read and discuss books, magazines and current events. Bill was forever a proud New Yorker and loved to visit and walk the streets of the “Big Apple”. His great love of Irish music and dance will be fondly remembered. Besides Patricia, his loving wife and soul mate of thirty-three years, Bill will be remembered by his two sons and a daughter-in-law, Liam and Jennifer of Hawaii and Daniel and his fiancÚe Melissa of Calgary; as well as two grandchildren, Hannah Mae and Kol Benjamin of Hawaii. He is also survived by his brother, the Very Rev. James Dorney of Staten Island, NY. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends in Canada and especially his godmother Mary Maher and cousins Jerry and Eugene Dorney and their families of New York. Bill was predeceased by his parents James and Ellen. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Sunday, March 27, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Monday, March 28, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Very Rev.
