Obituary of Madatally Thobani

Madatally (Madat) Thobani passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Beverly Centre at the age of 87 years. Born in Kampala, Uganda, Madat spent his working life in Nairobi, Kenya where he was very active in the local community through his devoted work in the Freemasons (as a Past Master and Past District Grand Sword Bearer) and Lion’s organizations. He moved to Canada in 1984. Madat will be deeply missed by his loving wife Zubeida, with whom he spent fifty nine memorable years; his younger sister Roshan Lakha; his two daughters, Mumtaz Carter and Habiba Grant; two sons, Masood Thobani and Mushtaq Thobani; six grandchildren, Jan and Steve Carter, Farhan and Foziya Thobani, and Fahim and Imran Thobani; and cousins, nephews, nieces and numerous wonderful friends in various parts of the world. Funeral Services will be held at the Ismaili Jamat Khana & Centre (4623 – 11th Street N.E.) on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace. The family would like to thank all of his caregivers at the Beverly Centre.
