Obituary of Bruno Francesco Gandossi
After a courageous battle with lung cancer Bruno passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 19 surrounded by his loving family.
Bruno was born in Yokohama, Japan on May 21, 1933 and came to Vancouver Canada in 1947 where he attended St. George’s School for Boys. He received his BA from UBC in 1959 and attended Wharton School of Business and Western University in London. Bruno and family resided in Vancouver and Victoria. In 1972 they moved to Calgary. Despite his illness, Bruno remained vital and active in business and life up to his death. He started his oil and gas career with Texaco, moved to Calgary with Union Oil and retired from Husky Oil in 1993. He started a second career with Turbo, retired a second time and then helped to establish DirectCash ATM, as Executive Vice President. Bruno and Donale traveled extensively. He particularly enjoyed his winter holidays in Mexico shared with dear friends. His last healthy days were spent in Cabo San Lucas with his wife and two daughters, enjoying the sun he so loved. One of his greatest pleasures was cooking for friends and family. Bruno is survived by his loving wife Donale; his adored children, Maria Bell (John), Tony Gandossi (Debbie) and Lisa Love (Ron); two brothers; Marco (Shirley) and Guido; cherished grandchildren, Shaundra, Scott, Robert, Eric, Sean, and an eagerly anticipated sixth grandchild to be born to Lisa and Ron; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bruno was predeceased by his father Francesco and mother Henrietta. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
